Svetlana Kochubei first picked up a video camera in 2010. “It was,” she says, “a natural movement of the soul - to capture in the frame the splendor and goodness of the beauty of nature that surrounds us. And at that very moment when the frame is successfully found and fixed, the limitations of your body suddenly disappear, and you become one with the beauty. This is such euphoria!”
Svetlana began accompanying her husband Alexander Kochubei on filming expeditions for his popular programs on the Hunting and Fishing (Okhota i rybalka) Channel. One day on location in the Volga delta, in Astrakhan, the day's shoot had ended. The cameraman went home. Since there were nine hours to go before Svetlana and Alexander would catch their flight home, Alexander put on his wet suit and decided to use the spare time to shoot some extra footage.
Svetlana picks up the story from there: 
“When Alexander slipped under the water, the hunter accompanying us plunged into his own thoughts, leaving me alone, one might say, in the boat. There was such grace all around! A light breeze, a gentle sun, the quiet splash of water, frogs conversing, the swift flight of birds, the rustling of reeds, the rainbow wings of a dragonfly crouching on my sleeve... My hand reached out to the camera, and... that is how my journey as a cinematographer began.”

Composer of original music

Sergei has worked with many top Russian musical acts over the last two decades. He was the keyboard player in Oksana Mysina's rock band Oxy Rocks. Sergei created the original music for Ivan Petrovich, usually working live at his instrument with the film unfolding before him onscreen.

Sergei is one of Russia's top rock guitarists, and has played with numerous popular and underground bands. He was the lead guitarist and occasional composing partner of Oksana Mysina in Oksana's band Oxy Rocks. He wrote the music to the song "Ivan Petrovich" that is performed in full by Oxy Rocks in the second half of the film.
