Stage Russia: Season Two
Eddie Aronoff Cardillo has announced the second season of Stage Russia. It's a hell of a season - Yury Butusov's "The Seagull" for Moscow's Satirikon will leave US movie houses full of socks, because it'll knock them off everyone attending. Sergei Zhenovach's "The Suicide" for Moscow's Studio of Theatrical Art will present one of the best Russian productions I have seen of Nikolai Erdman's classic play. Third up will be the tried-and-true Vakhtangov Theater with Rimas Tuminas' "Unc le Vanya." For the fourth entry, Stage Russia goes to the source - St. Petersburg - for another production by the spectacular Yury Butusov. This time it is Butusov's "Macbeth.Kino" for the Lensoviet Theater. And rounding it off in April as the season's fifth entry will be Boris Yukhananov's scintillating "Drillalians" (pictured above) for the Stanislavsky Electrotheatre of Moscow. Prepare to be amazed.
