The Theatre Times Covers Russia

The Theatre Times, which you can find at thetheatretimes.com, has significantly upped its coverage of Russian-related theater and culture of late. If you're following Russian culture, you need to be following The Theatre Times. Here are just a few of the pertinent posts in recent times: 1) a great interview with translator/writer/director Noah Birksted-Breen, 2) a piece on Kirill Serebrennikov's production of Anna Akhmatova's Poem Without a Hero at Gogol Center, 3) two pieces [one, two] on Natalya Vorozhbyt's Bad Roads at the Royal Court, 4) a piece called Art Riot: Post-Soviet Activism at London's Saatchi Gallery, 5) an interview with director Graham Schmidt of Breaking String Theater in Austin, TX, and more. For good measure, they even did an interview with me a few days ago. That can be found here. Plus, they maintain the archive of the the former Nite News site going, which means you still have access to lots of older Russian-related pieces, including 1) this one about Nicole Kontolefa's fabulous production of Alexandra Chichkanova's play I am Me in New York, 2) this cri de coeur by Kirill Serebrennikov in 2014, 3) and this piece that I wrote - and had forgotten - about the creepy and creeping sensation of Stalinism in Moscow that I felt in 2014. I could go on: there is lots, lots more. In short, if you are interested in Russian theater and culture, do not forget to cruise the pages of The Theatre Times.
