About
Red, Blue and Asya
Based loosely on O. Henry's story "The Purple Dress," Red, Blue and Asya tells an impressionistic parable in which the imagined worlds of three characters' - Woman, Man and a young girl Painter - interweave with the real world around them, an ancient port city on Crete. Here they are drawn into a romantic detective story. A girl paints the seashore. Her father gazes out to sea. A woman dreams of a life with this man. The elements - sea, wind, storm, and lightning - overtake these three lives, breaking down the barriers among them. A girl paints the seashore. A single phrase adapted from O. Henry - "You look magnificent in that red dress" - is virtually the only significant dialogue, and provides the inspiration for the actors' improvisations. The film runs 27 minutes.
